St Mary's Scottish Episcopal Church Birnam

To Absent Friends

To Absent Friends is an annual festival across Scotland with the aim of helping everyone remember our loved ones who have died.

Often society expects bereaved people to ‘get over’ the death of a loved on within a matter of a few weeks or months. The reality is we never ‘get over’ our losses. Each day we are confronted with the reality of the absence of our loved ones. They are still real to us, still beloved, and yet we often cannot speak of them to others.

An opportunity to raise a cup of tea in memory of a loved one, to remember them in a warm, inclusive space and perhaps write them a letter to express your feelings. All welcome, no charge.
